College Clubs

These Albies brand is synonymous with strong sporting traditions and this year has again fielded successful teams in many sports.

Currently, the college competes in Basketball, Netball, Rugby Union, Volleyball, Soccer, Mixed Netty, Water Polo and Hockey.

Many other sports can be played at a more social level in the intercollegiate competitions of the Mary Bagnell Trophy and the President’s Trophy. The inter-college women’s & men’s sporting competitions allow our teams the chance to go head to head with other colleges in different sports.

Albies students also have the opportunity to compete against, and socialise with, other University athletes from Queensland and Northern NSW, by participating in the University Games, that are held annually each year.

Our Rugby Union Club has a history dating back to the College’s origin and enjoys continued support from our Alumni and community sponsors.

We have now won the grand final in all 3 grades 4 times

1988 – won 1st , 2nd, 3rd and lost colts in GF

2005, 2009, 2011 – won 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade

Thus since the club started

1st Grade – won 10 premierships from 19 Grand Finals

2nd Grade – won 21 premierships from 24 Grand Finals

3rd Grade – won 11 premierships from 19 Grand Finals

In the last 8 years

1st Grade – won 5 Premierships from 8 Grand finals

2nd Grade – won 8 Premierships from 9 Grand finals

3rd Grade – won 5 Premierships from 9 Grand finals

Thus we won the Club Championships for all 8 years.

Our Netball Club is thriving this year fielding 8 teams
